How to Make a Lace Closure Wig?

Make yourself a nice and natural wig!

Sometimes you might find the wigs on the store are just not your type. You can buy the hair bundles and hair closure or frontal you like and make yourself a unique wig. Here is a tutorial for you to make a nice and gorgeous wig.

Things you need:

hair bundles; hair closure or front; a wig cap; an elastic band; a mannequin head; needle and thread;

Firstly, put the wig cap on the mannequin head. Make sure you get yourself a wig cap with an elastic band because if you don't, you might need to measure your  head and sew an elastic band on the wig cap. Here is a video showing how you should measure your head and sew the elastic band. HIGHLY REQUESTED ELASTIC BAND METHOD

Secondly, you need to bleach the lace closure or frontal before sewing it on the wig cap. I had written an article about how to bleach knots(How to Bleach Knots on a Full Lace Wig?). This step is very important if you want your lace frontal or closure look more natural.

The following steps are about how to sew down your lace closure/frontal and hair bundles.

Use three pins to hold the lace closure down to the wig cap. Two in the front and one in the black. This help to keep the lace closure right in the place when you get ready to sew.

Sew the hair bundles. Start at the very corner of the lace closure and make sure your stitches are close together. In this way, your lace closure could lay flat.

I would tell you some of my experience.

When I'm sewing the bundles, I run through the first layer of material because I want to make sure the wig cap fit on my head. If you go through the band, it's not going to fit your head and it would make the wig tighter. Because I want to try to fit all four bundles, I'm going to start at the lowest part of the cap and stitching my webs.

When stitching the last bundles, I would try to stitch it really close to the closure to make sure the bundles and the lace closure blend seamlessly.

After you finish sewing the wig, what you need to to is cut the excess net on the closure part so that you can see the color of scalp. Hold your wig and cut the net carefully. Make sure you are not cutting too close to where you sew your closures/frontal.

Before you wearing the wig, you might need to part the hair into the style you want, or flat-iron it. When I flat-iron my hair, I would a small section of my hair every time. In this way, I can make sure my hair closure can as flat as it can be. Make sure the heat is enough to penetrate the hair so that the the hair could come out nicely.

Hope you enjoy the tutorial and make yourself a nice wig!
